Master of Software Engineering (MSE)
National Science Foundation S-STEM Scholarships

The Computer Science Department at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse has been awarded a National Science Foundation S-STEM grant of $526,000 to support scholarships for full-time students studying in the MSE program.

The program will start awarding scholarships in the fall of 2008 and will support three cohorts for the MSE program. It is expected that each cohort will consist of approximately eight students.

Scholarship recipients will receive two years of financial support, up to $10,000 each year subject to maintaining program eligibility during each semester.Award amounts will depend on demonstrated financial need but graduate students are automatically assumed to be financially independent when demonstrating need.

The program will also support various cohort activities including travel to a regional conference for each scholarship cohort as well as external speakers and mentors.

Scholarship Qualifications

To qualify for scholarship support students must

  • be admitted to the MSE program
  • be citizens of the United States or other residency status as allowed by NSF policy
  • maintain full-time status (9 credits per semester) in the MSE program
  • maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • demonstrate financial need.
  • participate in scholarship cohort activities

UW-La Crosse students pursuing the 5-year BS/MSE dual degree become eligible for scholarships at the beginning of their senior year.
