For Current Students

ACT scores for entering computer science students rank among the top three programs at UW-L. Degrees conferred on UW-L computer science graduates in recent years include more than 60 Master's degrees and four PhD's.

Computer Science Club - The UW-L student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) hosts nationally recognized speakers, arranges field trips, sponsors programming contest teams, and organizes social events. For more information, contact Professor Kenny Hunt, CS Club Advisor, 213 Wing Technology Ctr.

Lab Facilities - The Computer Science lab is located in Rm 16 of the Wing Technology Center. This lab is available only to students who have a computer science lab account.

Summer 2007 Lab Hours:
The Room 16 Lab is closed for the summer.

Advising - Suggested schedule of courses and frequently asked questions.

Undergraduate Research - Many Computer Science students actively engage in research. These projects involve one-on-one work with a member of the faculty in the project that is of joint interest. Students usually receive course credit for their experience. The best way to begin a research project is to contact a member of the faculty and discuss the possibilities.

Upsilon Pi Epsilon - National Honorary Society for Computer Science that recognizes student achievement.

Internships - Over half of the computer science majors in their last two years find part-time computing employment on campus. In addition, numerous cooperative education/internship opportunities are coordinated through the Computer Science Department and the UW-L Career Services Office. Students majoring in computer science who wish to enroll in CEI 450 or CEI 475, University Internships, must have completed 15 credits of computer science course work, including C-S 220, and must have a minimum GPA of 2.50 in computer science courses to be eligible for departmental approval and supervision. Credits earned in internships do not apply to major or minor requirements. Students interested should contact Tim Tritch in the Career Services office for more information.

Job Placement - UW-L Career Services Office placement statistics show that 100% of all computer science majors are placed upon graduation. Typical starting annual salaries are consistently at or near the top of all UW-L graduates. Recent employers who have hired some of our graduates include: IBM, EDS, Trane Company, FirstLogic, CUNA Mutual, Honeywell, Avionics, MCI, WestGroup, Digital Equipment, Hewlett-Packard, Northern Micrographics, Cray Research, M&I Banks.
