Project title : A Physician’s Assistant

Author : Vignesh Arivazhagan

Year : 2011

Abstract : Electronic medical records (EMR) are being used to replace paper copies of patient medical records in many clinics and hospitals. EMRs not only provide faster information access but also make it easier to provide personalized health care to patients. This manuscript describes the design and development of a web-based framework, called Physician’s Assistant that can be used by health care providers to quickly browse through a patient’s record and make the most appropriate decisions for the patient’s current health problems. It uses a database that stores a collection of symptoms, a set of diagnosis, diseases, allergies, medications and treatments, and the internal relationships among all of these. In addition, the database also includes part of information that is normally stored in the EMRs of patients. A pharmacist portal has also been developed in order to provide a quick and consistent prescription of medications.
